Abingdon former assistant head teacher jailed

She'll serve a two years and four month sentence

Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a former assistant head teacher has been jailed for sexual offences against pupil in Didcot.

Catherine Pearl, aged 50, of Sutton Close, Abingdon, has been jailed for two years and four months.

Pearl was former assistant head teacher at Didcot Girls' School and the victim was a pupil at the school.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a girl as an adult abusing a position of trust.

The offences were reported to Thames Valley Police in 2023, following which a thorough investigation was carried out by the force’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit.

Pearl was initially arrested and questioned on 9 August 2023 and charged with the offences on 10 October last year.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Sarah Tibble of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “I would like to commend the victim in this case, who has shown such bravery in coming forward to report the offences and put her trust in Thames Valley Police to bring Catherine Pearl to justice.
