With a pass rate of over 98% - they outperformed their counterparts in England and Wales.

Northern Ireland also has the highest percentage of pupils getting top A and A star grades, over 30%.

After studying history, politics and geography, Jacob is off to Queens University where he is hoping to enjoy a new chapter in his life:

"I'm going to be studying law with politics at Queens.

"It's going to be a new chapter, it's going to be exciting, it's going to be something new, it's going to be the next step on the road so I'm really just looking forward to seeing what the future's going to hold."

Jacob told us he is aspiring to have a successful career ahead of him and is hoping to become a top barrister or even a politician:

"It's a real opportunity to make new friends and develop my interest in law.

"I realised this is something I wanted to dedicate my life to."

Jacob tells us he is very relieved to have received such high grades:

"I'm very relieved yes it's been a couple of months of stress since I've done my final exam it feels like it's been a really long wait and lots of anticipation and lots of nerves.

"I'm really glad that everything I've worked hard for over the past few years has come together, I'm ecstatic."
