Security alert ongoing in Newtownabbey

Homes have been evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious object, according to the PSNI.

Police said a number of homes had been cleared as part of the security alert in the Ashford Lodge area of Newtownabbey.

Motorists and pedestrians have been asked to avoid the area.

Several road closures and cordons are in place nearby.
