General Election: polls due to close shortly across Northern Ireland

General Election polling stations across Northern Ireland will be closing shortly.

A total of 136 candidates are standing in 18 constituencies.

The first votes were cast at 7am and polling will end at 10pm.

While there has been no official figures released on voter turnout so far, several polling stations reported brisk business.

Northern Ireland's political leaders cast their votes earlier in the day.

After polling stations close, counting will begin at three centres - the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast; the South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon and Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt.
