Police appeal after Belfast kayak search
Police say they wish to speak to the owner of an inflatable kayak that was located in Belfast's Shaw's Bridge area on Wednesday evening (June 19th).
Officers went to the report of a concern for safety shortly after 9:20pm that evening.
There, they found a shoe, sock and bottles near a half-inflated kayak that was drifting on the water.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "We understand that persons were in the water with the inflatable kayak. However, no further searches are planned - we want to ensure that whoever was using this kayak are safe and well.
"We are asking two teenage boys who purchased a kayak from a shop on the Boucher Road around 4pm yesterday to make contact with police right away to let us know that you are both okay.
"The boys are believed to be aged between 16 and 18 years old and both had dark hair.
"One of the boys was wearing khaki shorts, a khaki jumper and white trainers. The other boy was wearing turquoise coloured shorts and a turquoise coloured t-shirt and coat with dark-coloured trainers.
"If you are reading this – we would reiterate that you are not in trouble. We just want to check on your well-being and ensure you are both safe. If members of the public have information that could also help with enquiries, please get in touch with police."
