Over 60 firefighters tackle Kilkeel wildfire

More than 60 firefighters have been tackling a wildfire in Kilkeel.

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue received a call just after 7 o'clock on Wednesday evening.

The blaze broke out on Slieve Binnian mountain

AN NIFRS spokesperson said: "There are six fire appliances and 62 firefighters from Kilkeel, Downpatrick, Newcastle, Rathfriland and Newry supported by a Command Support Unit and four wheel drive vehicles in attendance.

"Locals are requested to avoid the area to help support firefighting operations."
