Newry: £250,000 worth of suspected cannabis discovered by police

Around £250,000 worth of suspected cannabis has been seized by police in Newry.

It follows searches at a property in the Canal Street area of the city yesterday.

Two men have been arrested.

PSNI Inspector Gibson said “Officers from the Newry, Mourne & Down District Support Team conducted a proactive search operation at a property in the Canal Street area of the city shortly after 4:40pm.”

“A large quantity of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of around £250,000 was discovered along with other items from the property.”

“Two men aged 34 and 28 years old were arrested on suspicion of various drugs related offences. Both men remain in police custody at this time.”
