Masonry and other items thrown at police and firefighters during disorder in West Belfast

Masonry and other items have been thrown at police and firefighters during disorder in West Belfast.

It happened in the Lower Falls area last night.

A PSNI statement said, “Police in west Belfast responded to reports of disorder in the Lower Falls area on Sunday night (28th July).”

“Officers initially attended the scene at around 10pm following reports of a large crowd gathering in the area.”

“Following this, masonry and other items were thrown at police and fire service personnel who had attended to extinguish a fire which had been lit in an industrial bin.”

“The crowd dispersed by around 11pm and while there were no reports of any injuries, a police car was damaged as a result of the incident.”

“ Enquiries are ongoing and officers would ask for anyone with any information to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1725 28/07/24.”
