A £500 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction after a series of "brutal attacks" on cats in County Antrim.

The PSNI say one cat has been killed and others injured - with humans thought to be responsible.

The attacks happened over two days in the Eden area of Carrickfergus.

A statement from animal welfare charity the USPCA said, “We are offering a £500 reward for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for a series of brutal attacks on cats in Carrickfergus.”

Chief Executive Nora Smith said, “"We are committed to bringing those responsible to justice and ensuring the safety of our pets. The reward is intended to encourage anyone with information to come forward. Every piece of information can help with the police investigation."”

“Animal welfare is a priority for the USPCA and we strongly condemn any acts of cruelty towards animals. “

“We are encouraging anyone with information that may assist the PSNI in their investigation to contact them on the 101 number.”
