A unique initiative to raise funds for the NI Children’s hospice has been launched by members of Tullylish GAC, Ballyhegan GAC & other GAA clubs across Ulster.

The Giro d’JJ, named in honour of young JJ Doran, who requires regular care from the hospice due to life limiting medical conditions caused by complications at birth.

The Giro will see over 30 intrepid cyclists tour the nine county GAA grounds of Ulster with JJ’s father, Vincent Doran, scoring a point in each ground.

Co-organiser of the event Gavin McEvoy said: “The NI Children’s Hospice does amazing work for young JJ and so many other kids with life threatening illnesses but in order to deliver its work, it depends very much on charitable donations, and we thought we could help.

“We’re hoping that businesses will sponsor the Giro d’JJ and individuals from across the nine counties of Ulster will support our efforts, we just need Vincent to score the points when we get to the grounds!”

“We’re very grateful to all nine counties for opening up their grounds for the Giro d’JJ and we have set a very ambitious target of £100,000 to be raised for the Hospice,” said co-organiser Dermot O Hanlon.
