We’re hearing about a Northamptonshire charity that’s marking a landmark anniversary and some of the events planned surrounding the occasion.

Starting in 1964, Northamptonshire Mind supports mental health issues across the county with different services and campaigns.

For its birthday it’s been selected as the beneficiary charity for this year's Waendel Friendship Walk around Wellingborough on the weekend of May 17th from the Castle Theatre.

Will Sparrow is Northamptonshire Mind Community Services Manager and tells us more:

"It's a 5km walk around the local area so we're hoping it's something which will appeal to all ages and abilities.

"For the anniversary, we would like 60 people participating in this. There will also be other walks taking place around the Wellingborough event through that weekend as well.

"The beauty of this walk is that it is all on very accessible grounds, not through fields or up or down any hills.

"Entrants will also be wearing our special 60th anniversary logo emblazoned on a commemorative t-shirt which they will receive, so that'll be a particular highlight to see."
