Two men have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 30-year-old Tommy Boom, who was fatally stabbed in a Northampton park last summer.

Daniel Larman and Kieran Okocha-Sleight, both 21, appeared at Northampton Crown Court today (Monday 12 May) to learn their fate after being convicted of murder earlier this year.

Boom was attacked shortly after midnight on July 18, 2024, in Miller’s Meadow—locally known as Semilong Park.

He died at the scene despite efforts to save him.

Following a two-week trial in January, a jury unanimously found both men guilty of the killing.

This morning, the judge sentenced Larman to a minimum term of 24 years, while Okocha-Sleight must serve at least 21 years before being considered for parole.

The courtroom was filled with friends and family of the victim, many of whom were visibly emotional as the sentencing was read out.

The case has shocked the local community, with police describing the attack as a “senseless act of violence.”

Speaking after today’s hearing, Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), shared this message:

Officers said the sentencing marks the end of a thorough investigation that brought two dangerous individuals to justice.
