Three day strikes begin at Northamptonshire Weetabix sites
Usdaw Union say members at Weetabix voted overwhelmingly, by 89%, for industrial action.
A union is urging Weetabix in Northamptonshire to improve their pay offer as strikes begin.
Usdaw members working at the breakfast cereal giant have begun three days of industrial action in a dispute about pay from today (29 April).
The strikes affect their sites at Corby and Burton Latimer.
Gavin Dadley, Usdaw regional secretary says:
“Usdaw members at Weetabix voted overwhelmingly, by 89%, for industrial action. Subsequently, the union has been in negotiations with the company in attempts to reach a settlement offer that we could recommend to our members for acceptance. However, these negotiations did not achieve that.
“Having given the company notice of three days of industrial action, starting tomorrow, we regret that management have not improved sufficiently on the initial pay offer, which our members have rejected. We now urge the company, even at this late stage, to make an offer that could allow us to postpone this strike action. We remain firmly committed to arriving at a jointly negotiated settlement to end this dispute.”
