Sex offender jailed for breaching prevention order
Nazish had broken multiple rules, including using the internet without permission
A 28-year-old man has been sent to prison for two years after breaking strict rules set to protect the public.
Shaleem Nazish, formerly of Wellingborough, was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court after admitting five offences. These included breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and failing to follow the rules of the Sex Offenders Register.
Nazish was first placed on the Sex Offenders Register and given an SHPO in July 2021, after being convicted of possessing indecent images at Cheshire Magistrates’ Court.
The SHPO included strict conditions, such as not using the internet without permission, only using devices that store browsing history, and providing his devices for inspection.
Between March 28 and April 3 this year, Northamptonshire Police found he had broken all of these rules.
In addition to breaching the SHPO, Nazish also failed to attend his annual check-in as required by the Sex Offenders Register and did not inform police that he had a new bank card.
He pleaded guilty to all five charges at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on April 4 and was kept in custody until sentencing.
At the end of May, he was sentenced to two years in prison and must pay a £187 victim surcharge when released.
Investigating officer, PC Billy Wright, of MOSOVO, said: “Shaleem Nazish rightly has very strict notification requirements he is expected to abide by, however his actions clearly demonstrated a total disregard for the sanctions imposed by the court.
“We take an absolute zero-tolerance approach to situations like this. If a breach is identified, there are no second chances, and I hope this case demonstrates how extremely seriously we take the management of sex offenders.”
