We've been hearing from Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service on new measures being set out to crack down on stalking.

It's as new guidance is being brought in over the issue of Stalking Prevention Orders and the way they're enforced.

This will affect police forces in Northamptonshire and across the country.

Rachel Duncan, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service, says that in some cases until now, however, officers sometimes haven't fully used powers which they've had available:

"If you study some of the data, police forces haven't always been utilising protection orders as much as they should. This could be down to level of evidence required to get those into place.

"More orders need to go hand in hand with more training for our officers though. A police officer can't protect victims when they don't necessarily know enough about stalking."
