Serious assault in Northampton

A man's been seriously injured after an assault in Northampton.

It happened on the morning of Thursday, November 20 in Rectory Farm Road.

Between 8am and 9am a man was sitting on a stone bollard at the entrance of the underpass, which runs underneath Rectory Farm Road, facing Gurston Rise, when he was approached by another male, who appeared to be in an agitated state.

He stood up to allow him to walk past, but instead he stopped and punched the victim twice causing serious facial injuries which required medical treatment.

The offender was white, about 5ft 8in and of an athletic build with short hair that was curly on top. He spoke with an Irish accent and was wearing a black puffer jacket and dark coloured trousers.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may be to help identify the offender.
