Police officer seriously injured in Raunds car crash

Police are appealing for witnesses

A police officer has been left with serious, life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car while on duty in Raunds.

The collision happened shortly after midnight at around 12.35am on Friday, 19th September on Station Road. The officer, who was on foot, was responding to an unrelated single-vehicle collision when he was hit by a blue VW Polo.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the VW Polo, a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody.

Detectives from Northamptonshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for witnesses and information.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the incident or events leading up to it.
