Rare radio controlled replica Ferrari F1 car up for auction
It's ahead of this year's British Grand Prix at Silverstone
The world's most expensive remote control car is going under the hammer in Northamptonshire.
It took a thousand hours to make and is a scaled down replica of the 2002 Ferrari driven by Michael Schumacher.
With a guide price of £200,000, it's going under the hammer at Whittlebury Park Silverstone tomorrow (Thursday July 4th) - ahead of the British Grand Prix.
The car was built in Switzerland by a company who specialise in medical equipment.
Stéphane Andrist, master mechanic, says:
"Our F1 project was a unique opportunity to combine my profession as a precision mechanic, my talent as a trainer, and my passion for model-making."
The car was exhibited at the Lausanne model-making fair in 2003 and tested during several presentations in Bière.
It has since been owned by the company Medicatech SA.
Auctioneer from Graham Budd, Adam Gascoigne explains the high price:
"It really is an engineering masterpiece. There was no expense spared, and it's got twin petrol engines.
"Simply put, it's a Formula One car in miniature!"
