Police Sergeant dismissed following gross misconduct hearing
Senior Northamptonshire officer breached bail conditions and professional standards
A Police Sergeant has been dismissed from Northamptonshire Police after a gross misconduct disciplinary hearing found serious breaches of professional standards.
The hearing took place at Northamptonshire Police Force Headquarters on 23 September 2025 and was chaired by Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet. The proceedings related to Police Sergeant 0462 Andrew Coppin.
The allegations against Sgt Coppin included breaching Police Bail conditions on two separate occasions and attempting to contact an individual he was specifically prohibited from contacting.
The officer was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour.
Sgt Coppin did not attend the hearing. After reviewing the available evidence, the Chief Constable concluded that the allegations amounted to Gross Misconduct.
As a result, the Chief Constable determined that dismissal without notice was the appropriate and proportionate outcome.
Northamptonshire Police stated that it remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professional behaviour and expects all officers to act with integrity and in accordance with their duties.
