Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was injured in an assault in Northampton town centre.

The incident happened between 3.40am and 4am on Saturday, August 16 in Woolmonger Street, off Horseshoe Street. During an altercation, a car ran over the woman’s feet before speeding away, leaving her with soft tissue injuries.

A group of men stopped to help the victim shortly afterwards, and officers are urging them — along with anyone else who saw what happened — to come forward.

Detectives are also asking drivers who may have dash-cam footage of the incident to get in touch.

A 34-year-old man from Dorset has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail while enquiries continue.
