A Kettering nurse who was caught drinking at work and offered alcohol to colleagues has been struck off the nursing register.

Jenny Steer was the clinical lead at Country View Nursing Home.

A report by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) found she normalised drinking on duty- a "serious breach of professional standards".

They believe she would be liable to repeat if she returned to nursing.

It occurred between December 2019 and July 2020- she was initially suspended for a year by the NMC on the 22nd November 2023.

Miss Steer told the panel in writing "she had made a mistake by drinking alcohol on shift and offering alcoholic drinks to her colleagues".

The panel says she expressed remorse for her actions.

The NMC has issued a striking-off order- meaning she's not allowed to nurse- which will come into effect on 20th December, when the original suspension was supposed to end.
