On the week that’s seen three years since Russia invaded Ukraine, we’ve heard from a Northamptonshire based mum and daughter from the country who are releasing a book.

Written by Anastasiia and Lisa Larchenko ‘The adventure in Headphones Magic land’ will raise funds for the rebuilding of a school in Zaporizhzia.

Anastasiia and Lisa eventually arrived in Moulton, Northampton three months after the war started back in February 2022.

Their journey here took them via a safe space for nationals in Poland, and then on to the UK.

Anastasiia told us about their ordeal as they left their lives back home behind:

"I had to leave my job, which I loved, my colleagues, my house and possessions. To this day I don't know what our future will bring which leaves lots of uncertainty."

They hope their book will raise awareness about the conditions felt by people back home.

Anastasiia says the school, which their charity fundraising will go towards, is typical of many which are still being attended despite the ongoing war.

She explains how damp and mouldy a lot of buildings are, some extremely close to the war zone, constantly putting lives at risk every day.

Daughter Lisa was inspired to get involved in the book's creation, and she told us how she got to work on the illustrations:

"I really wanted to help mum out in return for all the good things she's done for us.

"I decided I could assist with the pictures, but really didn't know what to do from there.

"Then I got to quickly learn the technique.

"My pictures aren't entirely drawn by me, but they are collages which I have put together and we're very happy with the results."
