Northamptonshire's new MP's begin their first full week in their new roles.

Like the rest of the country, Labour made gains in Northamptonshire, with 5 Labour MPs and 2 Conservative now representing communities in the county.

Corby and East Northants, Northampton South, Northampton North, Kettering and Wellingborough are all now represented by Labour MPs.

In the 2019 general election, the Conservative Party held all seven seats- however, Labour were able to snap up one in a by-election held earlier this year in February.

Sarah Boot in South Northamptonshire and Stuart Andrew retained seats for the Conservatives, previously held by former minister Andrea Leadsom and Chris Heaton-Harris who both decided not to stand again.

2\6 year old Rosie Wrighting said in her acceptance speech her generation don't remember the last Labour government. She begins her first full week as the new MP for Kettering.

Lee Barron is the new Labour MP for Corby and East Northants. The seat was previously held by Conservative Immigration Minister Tom Pursglove.

Lucy Rigby now represents Northampton North after former Conservative Michael Ellis said he would not stand again, in the seat he had held since 2010.

Gen Kitchen won the Wellingborough seat just two months from when she first took the seat from the Conservatives in a by-election triggered by following a recall petition triggered by MP Peter Bone's suspension from the House of Commons.

Mike Reader begins work as the Labour MP for Northampton South, as he took the seat from Conservative MP, Andrew Lewer.

One of the Conservative seats retained in Northampton was in Daventry, the seat former Northern Ireland Minister Chris Heaton-Harris said he would not be standing in. Tory Stuart Andrew now holds the seat. He was endorsed by the Conservative Leader of West Northamptonshire Council, Councillor Adam Brown during his campaign.

The other, the former seat held by Andrea Leadsom, South Northamptonshire is now represented by Conservative Sarah Bool.

Several newly-elected Labour MPs have criticised the reliability of train services after suffering disruption during journeys to take their seats in the House of Commons.

The politicians took to social media platform X - formerly Twitter - to complain as they travel to London ahead of the Parliament sitting on Tuesday for the first time since the General Election.

Paul Foster, MP for South Ribble, wrote on Monday: "Day One on my way to Parliament and guess what... @AvantiWestCoast go and cancel my train just as I get to Preston station."
