Two teenagers arrested following string of fires across Northamptonshire

The fires took place in housing estates, fields and woods in Corby

Two teenagers have been arrested by Northamptonshire Police in connection with an string of fires across the Corby area.

Officers from Northamptonshire Police were called to an incident taking place in a field in Corby just after 9pm on Thursday night (July 10th).

Working together with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, the emergency services were able to bring the fire under control.

While the fire service had used wildfire backpacks and beaters to extinguish the field fire, police set out to catch those responsible.

Shortly after the fire, the fire service confirmed that two 16-year-old boys had been arrested on suspicion of arson.

They were also arrested in connection with two other fires that were dealt with in the area, with one fire taking place at the Great Okley housing estate and the other being in a stretch of woodland near Uppingham Road.

Information on the status of the two boys' arrests have yet to be released by the force.
