A quick-thinking Police officer on Northamptonshire is being praised as bodycam footage shared online shows him commandeering a member of the public's bike to chase a suspected criminal.

In the footage we see PC Lewis Marks driving to a local park in pursuit of suspected drug dealer who himself is on a bike, before the car cannot go any further.

PC Marks leaves the car and makes off on foot before realising he's no chance of catching up. It's then the officer asks a member of the public if he can borrow their bike. Thankfully the kind man agreed and PC Marks continued after the suspect, now on two wheels.

A short time later the suspect is caught as PC marks 'rams' the other bike and both men fall to the floor where the arrest is finally made.

PC Marks then returns the bike to the member of the public and expresses his gratitude.

The man was searched and found to be in possession of "a large quantity of cash and phones with messages related to drug supply". A CT scan the following day showed "a plugged Kinder Egg toy case" which contained wraps of heroin and crack cocaine.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, as well as escaping from lawful custody, acquiring/using/possessing criminal property, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, and being concerned in the supply of heroin.

Returning to Northampton Crown Court on Friday he was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.
