A Northamptonshire MP has been given a new government position.

Labour MP for Northampton North, Lucy Rigby says she's honoured and delighted to appointed the Governments Solicitor General.

It's part of a mini cabinet reshuffle as transport secretary Louise Haigh resigned last week.

Ms Haigh was a Cabinet minister for just under six months.

Heidi Alexander was appointed to replace Ms Haigh as transport secretary.

As part of the mini reshuffle, Sarah Sackman has been appointed as a justice minister, meaning Lucy Rigby has replaced her as solicitor general.

Before being voted into the House of Commons in the general election in July, Lucy Rigby was previously as a solicitor.
