The best photo of this year's Royal International Air Tattoo has been revealed - and it was the snap taken by Ben Smith from Pattishall which took the top spot for 2024.

The snap featured the Hellenic Air Force’s F-4E Phantom II - and won after a vote of more than 2,500 people on social media.

It follows a shortlist of 15 being revealed this year, with bosses saying 'there were so many good photos this year' that they settled on a final set of five more than they usually do.

The photo with the most reactions won - with the victor being announced yesterday (19 August), on World Photography Day.

On social media, bosses at RIAT said: "And the winner of the RIAT24 Photography Competition is… Ben Smith, with his photo of the Hellenic Air Force’s F-4E Phantom II.

"Ben wins a FRIAT grandstand package, a place on the sold-out Aviation Photography Editing Academy by COAP Online, a place on a night shoot with COAP Wings, and some RIAT merchandise.

"Thank you to everyone that entered, and well done to all those shortlisted.

"Be sure to keep your eye out for the RIAT25 Photography Competition next year!"
