Northampton vape shop stunt which went viral
Sanju tells us he's worked as a lookalike for four years
A Rishi Sunak lookalike has gone viral this week - after being mistaken for the PM and egged by a member of the public.
The lookalike, real name Sanju, was at a photoshoot at Right Vape, Northampton, for e-cigarette retailer, Riot Labs - who held the event over the Government’s new anti-vaping legislation.
TikTok videos of the PM’s doppelganger have now racked up millions of views and Sanju say’s he’s received dozens of media requests since the incident.
Sanju said:
“I never thought being Rishi’s lookalike would bring this much drama.
"Work has really picked up this year with an election and Rishi under pressure. But it's usually guest appearances for photos and events like that.
"I’ve been shouted at in the street a lot. Some bloke called me a rude word the other week. I’ve had water chucked on me in the past.
"But I’ve got to say this is the first time I’ve been egged. I laughed it off, it didn't hurt or anything and the people on the shoot quickly helped me clean it off."
The owner of Right Vape, Northampton, Ryan Michlig added:
"We were all shocked this happened outside the shop. It all happened so quickly but he took it like a champ, I just hope his suit's not ruined."
