A mother from Northampton says she doesn't want her son, who took his own life aged 17, to be just another statistic.

Amanda Robertson is running a charity event today (Saturday 14th September) in honour of her son Bradley.

"We didn't specifically pick this date, but it's fallen at a good time at the end of Suicide Prevention Week. It was an idea that just grew and we decided to go with it."

"I don't want Bradley to be just a statistic, he was a lot more than that."

Amanda says her son Bradley was awesome, intelligent and sensitive. She wants to do something to honour his memory and create a legacy for Bradley.

"We want to raise awareness and money for two very good charities. I don't want Bradley to be just a statistic, he was a lot more than that."

Today at midday at Pitsford Reservoir the fundraising 'Bradley's Peaky Walk' is taking place. The walk will be followed by an event at The George Inn in Brixworth, with music from band The Peculiars and a raffle, raising funds for two charities who try to improve the mental health of teenage boys and young men.

One of Amanda's friends who has helped to organise today's event, Kerry, spoke to us about the charities.

"Man Cave is for men by men which is based in Wootton Community Centre and also Kelly's Heroes which is counselling for bereaved parents of suicide and they are based in Wellingborough."

The Samaritans are available any time on 116 123.
