Northampton gears up for another Bands in the Park

This weekend sees the third ‘Bands in the Park’ for 2024 at Northampton’s Abington Park Bandstand.

A range of music is being laid on every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 2pm supported by the Park Café, including an Elvis tribute and Buddy Holly tribute in the weeks ahead.

Organiser Councillor Jane Birch of Northampton Town Council explains about the shows and the traditions involved, having taken over the running in recent times:

"We're actually in our 124th year of Bands in the Park now.

"Some people come from far and wide to listen, so we're delighted to carry this on.

"We're keen to hear from bands who'd like to perform as well. They do a lot of work and train hard and it's all about their performance and having an audience. Offering the opportunity is really important.

"It's set in one of our lovely parks and the atmosphere is always special with children playing, families and friends perhaps enjoying a picnic too!"
