Northamptonshire netball league relaunched
The Corby Netball League will now play on Mondays, and across two venues.
A much-loved netball league in Northamptonshire is being revived and moving to a new timeslot, so that more local women have the chance to play.
The Corby Netball league will now play on Monday evenings across two venues, as opposed to Sundays, to make it more accessible to local people.
They had struggled to make numbers with their previous schedule, but- since the relaunch earlier this week- they've already gone from six teams to ten.
The league is now spread across Weldon Village Academy and Corby Business Academy.
Its been going for more than five decades, as thousands of women have been involved over the years.
Local underlay manufacturer Ball & Young has provided sponsorship for equipment for the second venue
League chair Kelly Mitchell said: "We’d always played on Sundays until this season when we really started to struggle to get full teams. We had to cancel all the games one week.
"I think people’s lives changed a bit in COVID and they got their Sundays back and spent more time with their families."
