Public invited to curate new exhibition about Northamptonshire
The exhibition is set to open in September 2025.
"A History of Northamptonshire in 100 Objects" is set to open in September 2025 at the Northampton Museum, and residents have been asked to help out.
It's the culmination of three years of work by West Northamptonshire Council, but, they're urging locals to come forward with items they think will add to it- regardless of people's historical knowledge or expertise.
Arts Council England has funded the Histories of Northamptonshire project, intended to showcase the rich culture of the county, with items ranging from early history to the 2020s!
The council's website writes, "The museum is recruiting guest curators (individuals, groups and communities) from across the county to select, research and share stories of significant local objects in the exhibition."
If your item is selected, you'll work alongside the museum team to research and share the story behind the object.
Not only will it feature in the exhibition, but an accompanying book, website, app, and even podcast series.
The deadline for submissions is October 7th, you can apply here.
The museum is currently hosting the project 'D-Day at 80', to develop small exhibition spaces in local libraries at Daventry, Towcester, Brackley, and Weston Favell- it closes on September 30th.
