Man accused over the death of Northampton man 5 years ago arrested in Bulgaria

A man accused over the death of Northampton man 5 years ago has been arrested in Bulgaria.

He's now been extradited to the UK.

64-year-old Fethi Kavas is charged following an incident on January 28th 2018, on the M1 southbound, just before junction 17.

Fethi Kavas is charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following an incident when the driver of a lorry was in collision with two stationary cars.

As a result of the collision a 53-year-old Northampton man, David Levett, who had cerebral palsy, sadly died.

Kavas travelled to Turkey following the collision leading to a notice for his arrest being issued.

Last month (February 22), he was arrested in Bulgaria and extradited to the United Kingdom, arriving on March 13th.

He appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on March 14th and will next appear at Northampton Crown Court on April 25th.
