A section of the M1 in Northamptonshire has been closed northbound following a serious collision involving a motorcyclist.

The incident happened between junction 16 at Weedon Bec and junction 18 at Crick. Emergency services, including the air ambulance and East Midlands crews, are at the scene.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The M1 northbound is currently closed between J16 and J18 due to a collision involving a motorcycle. Emergency services are leading the response, and traffic caught within the closure is being released from the rear of the queue.”

All delays leading up to the closure have now cleared, but drivers are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys or consider alternative routes.

A diversion is in place, with drivers advised to follow the hollow triangle symbol from junction 16. The route takes vehicles west on the A45, north on the A5, and east via the A428, before rejoining the M1 at junction 18.
