'Immediate action' after housing concerns raised in West Northhants
The Council leader says the authority is working to ensure all safety and quality concerns are rectified
West Northamptonshire's Council leader says "immediate action" is being taken after safety and quality concerns were raised about some Council homes.
A report found some properties managed by an arms-length organisation, Northamptonshire Partnership Homes (NPH) had failed to meet strict national standards.
This includes fire risk assessments not being conducted in some of the body's nearly 11,500 homes.
The Council says the majority of homes managed by NPH are not affected, but that they are writing to tenants living in properties that are to discuss resolutions.
Findings "simply not good enough"
Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio, West Northamptonshire Council's leader Adam Brown described the findings as "concerning news", but said the authority is ready to help worried tenants.
"The Council is working closely with NPH to work through a plan of action to rectify everything that needs to put right."
"All of our tenants will be contacted before the end of December to outline our next steps."
Cllr Brown also said the authority are working "day in day out" with the housing regulator after their self-referral.
"Their initial feedback is that they take some reassurance from the steps that we're taking, and the dialogue that we've entered into with them."
The authority's Cabinet will meet on Tuesday 19 November to discuss a full performance report into NPH.
