Van owners in Kettering and Corby are being encouraged to remove all tools from their vehicles overnight following several theft reports.

Northamptonshire Police has received several reports of vehicles being targeted by thieves who drill through or otherwise damage locks to get into vans, including three in one night in Kettering earlier this week.

With Neighbourhood Policing Teams working to detect offenders and prevent further offending, officers are also urging people to remove tools from vans overnight, and to ensure their equipment is security marked and registered with an online property registry service.

The general advice is to ‘always lock it ‘– even if you’re just away for a moment, make it a habit to always lock up.
