Dr Adam Nawaz, an award-winning GP based in Wellingborough, is due to appear at Northampton Crown Court next month, accused of sexual assault.

He's been charged with three counts of sexual touching of two 11-year-old girls, on separate dates in 2017 and 2023.

The former partner at Albany House Medical Centre won a prestigious Health Service Journal award in 2022.

Dr Nawaz- who's from Milton Keynes- has since been suspended pending a GMC investigation while his trial is ongoing, as is standard in such cases.

The interim suspension was imposed by an Interim Orders Tribunal of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).

The MPTS holds independent tribunals and makes decisions about whether temporary restrictions are necessary.

He appeared before Magistrates in Northampton yesterday (Thursday, September 19th) as proceedings got underway, but the case has been sent to Northampton Crown Court due to its gravity.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board said: “We are actively offering our support to the practice during this time and have been working with them to ensure any potential disruption for registered patients is kept to a minimum.

With criminal proceedings now active, it would not be appropriate for us to comment further at this time.”
