Girl sustained life-threatening injuries in A45 collision

A girl has sustained life-threatening injuries following a collision on the A45 between Wellingborough and Rushden.

It happened on the eastbound carriageway at around 10.10pm last night, Wednesday, June 11, when a teenage girl on foot was in collision with the driver of a white Nissan Note car.

The driver stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.

The girl was taken to University Hospital Coventry.

Prior to the collision, the police received reports of a group of people on foot walking in the carriageway, and officers were deployed to look for them.

Investigators from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are keen to hear from anyone who saw a group on or beside the A45 before the collision, as well as any witnesses to it.

A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) by Northamptonshire Police.
