Cllr Nunn stood down from his role last month

Former West Northamptonshire Council leader Cllr Jonathan Nunn has resigned the Tory whip.

It means the ex-leader who stood down from that role last month, and who continues to act as a local councillor, will now stand as an independent member.

Mr Nunn resigned following domestic abuse allegations, which he strenuously denies.

Meantime Cllr Adam Brown is now the local authority's leader, following backing of the local Conservative group on the council.

Northampton South MP Andrew Lewer has called Mr Nunn's latest resignation, "correct action" over a very serious issue.
