Five arrested following fights in Corby

Northamptonshire Police say they're working "at a fast pace" to investigate the incidents on Tuesday afternoon

Five people have been arrested following a number of fights in Corby.

They occurred on Tuesday afternoon, with Northamptonshire Police working to establish the circumstances that they believe link the incidents.

A first fight was reported between two groups of teenagers in Coronation Park, near to the junction with Elizabeth Street, at 12:45pm.

Another fight between two groups of teenagers took place near Stephenson Way and Rockingham Road shortly after 5pm.

A boy sustained bruising after being punched in the face.

Later on Tuesday, a taxi was stopped on Oakley Road, with four boys, aged 16 and 17, arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

On Thursday, a 19-year-old woman from Corby was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Northamptonshire Police say they are aware of online speculation and concern, and say detectives are continuing to investigate at a "fast pace."
