Firefighters attend Northampton marina blaze

One narrow boat was found alight

Fire crews were called to reports of a fire at the marina near Victoria Promenade in Northampton, shortly after 5am today (Tuesday October 22nd).

20 people were evacuated to an office building at the Marina as a precaution, as firefighters tackled a fire on a narrow boat.

Teams helped to treat one woman suffering from smoke inhalation, who was left in the care of paramedics.

At the height of the incident, four fire engines were on scene. Two adjacent boats sustained some light smoke damage, though the vessel involved was destroyed.
