East Midlands Ambulance welcomes 47 newly qualified Paramedics
The service says it's better prepared for the festive season, when demand traditionally rises
Additional ambulance crews are now available to respond to life-threatening emergencies across our region over Christmas.
47 newly qualified paramedics are now hitting the roads, ahead of an expected rise in demand.
The East Midlands Ambulance Service says the boost in its frontline response means it's now better prepared for the busiest winter weeks.
The new paramedics will provide life-saving clinical care in the community - using specialised equipment like defibrillators and administering oxygen and medicines to support recovery.
During this stage, they receive additional support, structured development, and close supervision to consolidate their learning and build confidence as an operational paramedic.
Tim Slater, Deputy Director of Operations at EMAS said: “Congratulations to our NQPs, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible.
"Having 47 new paramedics on the road means we have more crews available for life-threatening emergencies and much-needed support for our frontline teams during the busiest weeks of the year – including the festive season and winter pressures.”
