A driver in Wellingborough who was already disqualified from driving has been banned for a further 46 months after being found two times over the alcohol limit.

At approximately 6.30pm on 10th November 2025, a Neighbourhood Policing officer on patrol identified a silver Mercedes on Midland Road showing as untaxed on the DVLA database.

The driver, Thomaz Wojcichowski, 41, was followed to his home address on Fields View after parking the vehicle and attempting to speak to police. Routine checks revealed Wojcichowski was banned from driving until December 2026 due to a previous drink driving offence.

He was arrested for driving while disqualified and without valid insurance. A roadside breath test led to further arrest on suspicion of drink driving. Wojcichowski later provided an evidential reading of 74 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath; more than twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

Wojcichowski appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on 11th November 2025, where he pleaded guilty to three offences: driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while disqualified, and driving without valid insurance.

As a result, he received a further 46-month driving ban, a community order, and a rehabilitation activity requirement. He must also complete 160 hours of unpaid work and pay £114 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

PC Kyle Jones from Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team spoke about the case:

“We see the devastating effects drink driving can have and therefore it is extremely disappointing that some people still choose to ignore our advice and break the law in this way.

“Getting behind the wheel – nearly two times over the limit – is not just selfish, but dangerous and reckless, and Thomaz Wojcichowski is fortunate that his actions didn’t kill or seriously injure someone.

“Reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads remains a priority for Northamptonshire Police and our partners at the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance, and we will continue to robustly keep such irresponsible drivers off our roads.”

Northamptonshire Police urges residents to report concerns about disqualified or drink drivers online or via the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, reports can be made anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
