Daventry Banksy strikes again

The protesters witty signs have caught the councils attention as she campaigns for work to be completed on potholes.

She's behind humorous signs berating West Northants council for the state of potholes in the county.

The anonymous creator of the signs told us why she started putting up the signs, after following behind her husband as he cycled Long Buckby Road.

"It was shocking to see him ducking and driving around the potholes.

And I was following him thinking, what on Earth is he doing?

Then I think - I'm doing the same thing and there was cars coming towards me on the other side of the road and cars waiting to overtake potholes."

But the anonymous and elusive woman behind them tells us they could lead to fatalities.

"My worries are that, there will be an accident, not due to my signs, but due to the potholes.

That's another thing, they're so incessant on taking those signs down. People are saying instead of, taking their signs down. Why don't you tackle the real problem, which is a potholes?"

Taking inspiration for her name from the graffiti artist Banksy, she tells us she just wants the council to be clear on when they will fix the issue.

West Northamptonshire council tell us they understand people’s frustration and apologise.

They also say they spend £26m across road and transport services annually, but to properly resurface all our roads would cost as much as £250 million.

They add that they've invested in new technology to fix potholes more efficiently.

The council add that they've had nearly 4,000 reports of road repairs in the past six months, but this must be done in warmer, drier weather.
