The mayor of Corby says today's Pride celebrations are important to make people feel safe and welcome.
Events kicked off last night with a Queer Ceilidh on Friday evening at Corby Old Village Community Centre, and run all weekend.
Today's main event a vibrant parade from The Cube in George Street to the festival in Coronation Park.
Councillor Callum Reilly tells us it's important to celebrate minorities, with many reasons to celebrate Pride:
"There's a whole host of reasons, in terms of Prides history to celebrate Pride on a much longer basis and lots of those under represented communities within society and it's really important we raise awareness of that. And the importance of people being made to feel safe not just in our town but every town in the country."
The afternoon will have plenty of live performances, delicious food and drink vendors, insightful community stalls, engaging workshops, with fun for the whole family, all free.
The Official Pride After Party on Saturday night at The Grampian Club on Patrick Road, with drag queens, live bands, and food.
It's the third anniversary of the event in Corby, and Cllr Callum Reilly says the response from the first year was incredibly supportive:
"We worked really closely with local partners, businesses and the community and the response in terms of support was really overwhelming.
"We had an absolutely fantastic response on the day the first year from the community and further afield and we've built on that."
He says it's an event for everyone:
"It's a testament to our town, to the community and to the support for the LBGTQ+ community and a really family filled day."
