Full-time police station a New Year priority, says Corby MP

The town has gone without a dedicated police base for almost a decade

Lee Barron, the MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire, says the ongoing demand for a full-time police station is high on the 2026 agenda for the town's plans.

After the Elizabeth Street station closed in 2017, Corby’s officers relocated to a hub at the Corby Cube, which is only open to the public on certain days,

Emergency response units have to commute from Kettering's northern hub along the A6003 to Corby, to attend urgent incidents in the town.

Mr Barron says the lack of a dedicated station has resulted in Corby locals raising concerns over reduced police visibility and presence on its streets.

He said: ''We need a dedicated response unit based in the town in order to serve the communities of Corby and East Northamptonshire.''

The MP previously raised the issue in Parliament, arguing it is unacceptable that offenders cannot meet bail conditions because Corby’s current base operates part-time.

He added: Our campaign for a police station to be returned to the town continues, having no police station in Corby...that's not on.''
