A 24-year-old drug dealer has been sentenced to 41 months prison after being found in the possession of more than 100 individual wraps of Class A drugs in Corby.

On October 21st last year, Dylan John Else drew the attention of police officers on patrol in the town’s Kingswood estate, when he appeared to cycle off at speed after spotting the officers in Alberta Close.

They followed him and asked him to stop but he refused and cycled off. Due to his behaviour his description was circulated and, later that morning, Else was spotted cycling along Oakley Road and this time stopped.

A stop and search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act was carried out and officers found 95 wraps of cocaine and 10 individual deals of heroin located in Else’s black man bag, along with cannabis, more than £1,200 in cash, a Samsung mobile phone and a knuckle duster.

During the search, a Nokia mobile phone was also seized and on further inspection was found to contain about 80 drug-related marketing messages which had been sent from the handset between October 18th and 21st, 2023.

Else, of Dumble Close, Corby, was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (cocaine and heroin), possession of a Class B drug (cannabis), possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of criminal property.

On October 23, 2023, Else appeared at Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. His case was sent to the county’s crown court and on March 26th, he pleaded guilty to all five charges.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Amelia Thompson, of the North LPA CID team, said:

“Tackling drug harm is a matter of priority for Northamptonshire Police and I am pleased with this sentence which demonstrates that drug dealing is taken seriously by both police and the courts.

“We hope this sentence also sends out a clear message to those involved in the illegal drugs trade. Whether you’re a street level dealer or orchestrating wholesale supply, if you choose to go down this route, we will disrupt your activities and bring you to justice.”
