Appeal launched after £100,000 damage was caused in boat fire

Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a tugboat was set on fire on the Grand Union Canal in Rothersthorpe.

The incident happened between 5pm last Wednesday, September 4th, and 9.30am on Thursday, September 5th, when a tugboat moored between locks 6-7 Northampton Arm.

Officers say it was deliberately set on fire. It also led to causing damage which will cost more than an estimated £100,000 to repair.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
