The Amazing Northampton Run returns today
The half marathon organisers are expected hundreds of runners - some in fancy dress
The Amazing Northampton Run will welcome hundreds of runners to the town today.
The government-funded half marathon was first held in 2013, under the name Northampton Half-Marathon.
The race is supporting 45 different charities this year, and also honouring the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Northampton.
Event Director Simon Hollis said: "We saw a guy last year dressed as a disco glitterball - which was a heck of an outfit.
As well as the half marathon race, there will be a three-person relay at 9:30am, and a three-mile race at 9:45am.
Crowds can expect to see pace runners wearing yellow numbers, running times from one and a half hours to three hours.
"We are hoping this year to potentially break the record for the fastest half marathon dressed as Father Christmas."
Where can I see the runners?
The runners will set off from Market Square at 9:30am, running over South Bridge and following the river past Northampton's homes of football, rugby and cricket: Sixfields stadium, Franklin’s Gardens and The County Ground.
Then, the route takes runners through three parks: The Racecourse, Abington Park and Barnes Meadow.
Finally, participants will race past the university campus for a Market Square finish.
Many town centre roads will be closed for the duration of the morning and early afternoon due to the race.
