Woman shot with air rifle in Bishop Auckland

A 33 year old woman has been shot with an air rifle in Bishop Auckland.

The incident happened when she was walking across the footbridge over the A688 towards St Andrew’s church at around 11:30pm on Sunday 28th August.

The woman felt a sharp pain in her leg and was taken to hospital where an air pellet was discovered embedded in her flesh.

PC Julie Lamb said:

“This was a very painful and distressing experience for the victim who will require ongoing hospital treatment for her injury.

"Anyone with information about this incident should contact police urgently.”
